FastingLENT 2025
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory.”
“Turn away from sin. Remain faithful to the Gospel.”
It is with these words we begin the Season of Lent for 40 days of a journey into the new life of Easter. As Catholic Christians, the Season of Lent invites us to participate in the Lord’s Paschal Mystery—His life, death and resurrection. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday as we are marked with the ashes as a sign of our willingness to enter more fully into the Lord’s Passion. Lent is our time to change—a time of conversion. During the Season of Lent we reflect upon our lives of faith, and we desire to follow Christ more closely.
Traditionally Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and works of charity.
What is the desire of your heart as we approach the Season of Lent?
How will the days and weeks of Lent be for you a time to grow closer to the Lord?
PRAYER: Prayer changes us! Pray often, Psalm 23, 27; Mt. 26:36-46;
2 Thessalonians 1, 3-4.
FASTING: may we fast from certain foods, the internet, our cell phones and gossip. Lent is a time of fasting which invites us to sacrifice “something” deepening our love for God and neighbor.
WORKS OF CHARITY: Read Mt 25:33-46. “As often as you did it for
the least of my brothers, you did it for me.”
I wish you a good Lent. May your 40 days of Lent bring you to the
joy of Easter Faith!
